Beach

Located 16 km southwarsds of the district of Kasargod, the Bekal beach is famed for being one of the most well-known tourist beaches in the south Indian state of Kerala. on the National Highway  number 17, this beach is not only popular for its scenic beauty also for the the fort that is popular in the form of the best preserved forts in the state. With calm sea waters, this beach is perfect to enoy some relaxed moments with your loved ones. It can rightly be called just the right the place to enjoy a mixture of sun and surf. The Kappil and the Kanvatheertha beaches, located nearby are also quite popular, perfect for swimming.

Monuments

The sleepy Bekal beach is not only popular for its natural beauty, but is also known for housing the popular Bekal Fort. The town of Bekal houses a number of and this whole area is a known as a historical place. The beautiful town of Bekal is situated on the shores of the Arabian Sea in the Pallikare village. Quite close to this place is Chandragiri Fort, which is another famed tourist attraction, built during the 17th century in Kasargod. This is a square-shaped fort, set on the banks of the Chandragiri River. This historical fort offers excellent views of the the Arabian Sea as well as the river. On the south-eastern side of the Kasaragod town, this fort is a nice place to view a spectacular sunset.  

Mahalingeshwara/Madanantheshwara/Shiva temple

Also known as Madhur temple, is named after an old lady. According to the legends, an old  lade named Madaru found a statue that was not man made. This lady from a backward caste, got a statue that was called Udbhava Murthy and was a Shivlingam. This temple is also known as the Srimad Anantheswara Vinayaka temple, and has a unique 3-tiered dome, a covered courtyard and copper-plated roof.If you are a trekking enthusiast, Ranipuram, located a a distance of around 85 km from the Kasargod town is is just perfect for you. Formlerly known as Madathumala, it around 750 m above the sea level on the Western Ghats. This place is accessible by jeeps.Bekal fort, which is called the best preserved forts in the state is about 15 km from the Kasargod town. A famous tourist attraction, the fort spreads in 35 acres of land. This fort around 130 feet above the sea level, is managed by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), and has a number of structures erected within its four walls or around it such as The Sea Bastion, Anjaneya Temple, The Mosque, the Observation Tower and more.

Anandashram

Situated at a distance of around 15 km from Bekal, Anandashram Founded in 1931. A well-known spiritual centre, it is quite popular on an international level as well. Every year a large number of devotees visit this place to enjoy peaceful meditation sessions as well as to do spiritual studies.

Ananthapura Lake Temple

Constructed way back in the 9th century, Ananthapura Lake temple is located at a distance of 30 km from Bekal. This ancient lake temple is one of its kind in Kerala. Dedicated to Sree Padmanabha or Lord Vishnu, this temple has the idol of the Lord in a seated form on Adisesha, the serpent God.

Tree Houses

Bekal, famed in the form of an eco-friendly destination, is quite popular for its forts and beaches. Located quite close to the beach is Bekal tree house resort, has tree houses that are made-up of wood and other local eco-friendly material.
