Just 10 km southward of Kozhikode, Beypore beach is one of the main fishing harbors and ports of ancient times in Kerala. It was popular as a maritime and a trade centre. Located at the tip of the river Chaliyar, Beypore beach has a popular boat-building yard that is known for the construction of Uru, which is a traditional Arabian trading vessel.
