6. Our Lady of Dolours Basilica

Placed amid a wonderful setting with lush valleys in the backdrop, the Our Lady of Dolours Basilica is connected to a number of stories of faith. It is not only a popular place of worship but a tourist attraction also. It is opened between 10 AM and 5 PM, and the timings change as per the rituals. Known for its Gothic style of architecture, it is the tallest and one of the largest churches in Asia. Also known as Puthanpally, it was built way back in 1814, and was reconstructed in 1929.

Avoid stepping on the rocks as they are slippery and even the falls are always in full vigor. There is a sitting space near the falls, with proper tree shades. Other buildings here are a Natural History Museum, a Zoological Garden, a Botanical Gardens an Art Museum with socio-cultural displays. The zoo is opened from 10 AM to 6.30 PM (closed on Monday).
