The Government of Kerala and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academi in Pimpri Chinchwad is organizing a 4-day festival to mark the 60th anniversary of Kerala Formation Day. This event is going to a mélange of cultures of Kerala and Maharashtra.
Live cultural exhibits would be put around making the place look a typical village of Kerala so that the visitors can understand the flavor and atmosphere of the state. Marathi cultural performances and a food festival are going be prime crowd pullers. The Handloom and Handicraft department of Kerala is also going to have a stall at the event.
The list of participants include names like Kerala Sahitya Academi, Kerala State Chalachitra Academi, Kerala Lalithakala Academi, Kerala State Chalachitra Academi, Kerala Tourism Department, Kerala Handicraft and handloom development corporation, and Kerala Folklore Academi. Several Malayalee organizations in Pune and its outskirts are also a part of this festival.
‘Deergha Chathuram’ is a Soorya Krishna Murthy’s multimedia play that is going to be staged at Ankushrao Landge Auditorium in Bhosari on Thursday in the form of a Kelikottu of Kerala Festival. Cultural programs are going to be organized from Friday to Sunday at Saraswati Vishwa Vidyalaya, Talawade Road, Nigdi. the highlights of these 3 days would be Katha Prasangam’ that involves story telling with musical support, Padayani – a ritual art and a traditional folk dance, magic shows, ceremonial dance with masks and folk songs.
A procession is going to be held out on Friday that showcases selective Kerala art forms, a representation of Maharashtrian culture clubbed with traditional Keralite drums and more than 300 artistes.
