Kerala is set to boost its tourism with new measures. The costal state of India is to offer Beach huts. These eco-friendly lodgings will be modelled on traditional fishermen’s homes. Soon it will be the tourists’ new getaway to the serene coastline along the Arabian Sea. As part of responsible tourism, these beach huts will be run by educated coastal women who are financially weak.
The Tourism Department of Kerala has sought designs of eco-friendly beach huts. The plan is to build about 50 huts on selected beaches in three months. Inspired from the beach shacks and huts in Goa, the designs sought are a better version of such holiday properties. Only environment friendly and locally available materials will be used in construction. The materials will be sustainable for the climate but will not possess any danger to the ecology. Coconut palms are sturdy as well as eco-friendly and easily available in the area. The Tourist department has instructed architects to follow the design of traditional fishermen’s homes. Beach huts of Kerala are designed to be low on cost structures and also adhere to coastal regulation rules.
The Kerala beach huts will be built on coastal regions that do not have enough places to stay, like hotels, resorts and lodgings. The goal behind this development is to provide a place for people coming to beaches to rest and change clothes. Beach huts will also attract tourist looking for a peaceful low-budget holiday. The tourism department also have future plans to promote sports, food and Ayurvedic centers in the comparatively less busy beaches in Kerala.
