In order to help Kerala boost its tourism sector, 100 tourists from Australia traveled to a village in Alappuzha. Interestingly, the group also included the International music band Australian World Orchestra and they enjoyed spending time with the locals. This amazing Kerala experience was a part of Kerala’s effort to enhance the flood-affected tourism sector.
A media interaction was organized earlier, where WanderNow said that they are trying to lure foreign tourists to Kerala. He also highlighted that this is being done because a fair share of them don’t want to explore the state after the massive floods. Obviously, the floods that hit the state this year devastated many of the top tourist destinations in Kerala.
The Australian members went to Alappuzha and enjoyed a backwater cruise in houseboats during their Kerala trip. A rendezvous with the Kudumbashree community helped the group to understand the lifestyle of the people dwelling in Kerala. Their trip also included an excursion to organic farms, indigenous coir manufacturing units and an introduction to the items made from clams and Water Hyacinth.
Nebu Sam John, COO of WanderNow told that they aspire to make the tourist experience one of the significant characteristics of their village. They also wish to offer the tourists a memorable trip when they return to their country.
