In recently held Lonely Planet Magazine India (LPMI) Travel Awards 2016, Kerala won the award for the ‘Best Family Destination’ in India. The function was organized on last Monday at Mumbai where U V Jose, the Kerala Tourism Director collected the award.
The annual awards are a display of the best service providers, the best of travel experiences that are available to the Indian nationals, the places where they preferred staying and the destinations that they most loved to explore.
A panel of travel professionals and experts had decided the nominations for the awards, and this shortlisting was then put to readers voting through the magazine as well as online.
Along with being awarded as the best place for family holidays, Kerala also featured as a nominee in the categories as the best destination for ‘culture’, and ‘to relax’.
This is not the first time that this serene and beautiful South Indian state was won accolades. Earlier also Kerala Tourism had won the Ulysses Prize of the United Nations World Tourism Organization for its valuable contribution as a global leader to sustainable tourism.
