The 15 km beach stretch of this golden beach in Kerala is shallow and very clean which ideal for surfing sunbathing and swimming. The way leading to the beach is beautified by installing high mask lamps. The shimmering golden sand of the Cherai beach is studded with seashells of various colors and shapes. In close vicinity of the beach lies children park where tiny tots can enjoy fun rides on water scooters and speed boats which are easily available on hire. The sights dolphins frolicking in the sea can be enjoyed occasionally. Dolphins will spring out and dive back into the azure water. The sight of the Chinese Fishing Nets at the far ends of the beach adds to the scenic beauty of the beach. In the month of December the Cherai Beach is frequented by many travelers to attend the five-day tourism festival called Cherai Beach Tourism Mela. During this festive celebration cultural shows and traditional art forms performances like Kathakali are held on this occasion.
