Kappad is a historic beach town where the Portuguese traveler Vasco-da-Gama landed on reaching India for the first time. The beach is set along the Konkan coast and features a small monument made from stone with an inscription that reads, Vasco-da-Gama landed here in 1498. The clean and scenic surroundings of the beach attract a large number of tourists from all corners of the world. Kappad Beach is the main tourist attraction of the town to rest and relax while admiring the natural beauty sprinkled around its pristine Shoreline. The stretch of the beach is called the Kappakadavu which is dotted with a large number of rocks and the yellow color sand.
