Kappad is a historic beach town where the Portuguese traveler Vasco-da-Gama landed on reaching India for the first time. The beach is set along the Konkan coast and features a small monument made from stone with an inscription that reads, Vasco-da-Gama landed here in 1498. The clean and scenic surroundings of the beach attract a large number of tourists from all corners of the world. The stretch of the beach is called the Kappakadavu which is dotted with a large number of rocks and the yellow color sand.
