Founded by a world-popular spiritual leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Mata Amritanandamayi Math is an ashram in Kollam, thronged by her followers from all over the world all round the year. Fondly known as Amma, she is also known for being a humanitarian, helping the needy. The principles and teachings of Amma are followed by families in India as well as abroad. She has founded Mata Amritanandamayi Math and the ashram in Amritapuri, Kollam is the headquarters.
This ashram is not only the preaching center of Amma but is also home to Amma’s disciples, their families and monastic students from all over the globe. These people have completely put their lives in the process of serving the world and in the attainment of self-realization. Amma stays here with them and sermonizes her teachings, practices selfless services and meditation.
Mata Amritanandamayi Ashram is actually an international pilgrimage site where Amma’s followers come in search of inner peace, comfort and motivation. The place plays to host to thousands of devotes, on a daily basis. Evening prayers are organized every day, lead by Amma wherein devotional songs are also sung. On a weekly basis, meditation session and an open question-answer session is also organized here.
