Located at a distance of around 3 km from Kollam, Picnic Village is one of the prime recreational centers in the town at Ashramom. Placed at the backwater-front, this village set-up is home to a number of structures including an adventure park, a 200- year old Government Guest House, Children’s Traffic Park, Tourist Boat Club and Yatri Niwas, offering accommodation to the visitors. Along with this, there are a number of other entertainment options as well.
Backwater cruises in traditional houseboats called Ketuvallams are also organized by the District Tourism Promotion Council. One can also opt for speedboats and luxury boat tours from the Boat Club. Paaramparya Museum, lying within the same premises, houses paintings from various parts of the country along with Kerala mural art.
