The highest peak of Western Ghats, Anamudi Peak is 2695 meters tall. The peak resembles an elephant’s head and that’s what Anamudi means in local dialect. The hill is carpeted with evergreen forests which are the source of some of the most important rivers of Tamil Nadu as well. The peak is in a close proximity with Eravikulam National Park. In order to reach this peak, it is recommended to hike upwards from north or south, you will find easier way here. While in east and west the route is more craggy and steep. Hikers would need to seek permission from the Eravikulam National Park officials. Officials also provide information regarding trekking and weather.
