Home to endangered mountain goats, Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Langur, leopards, bison, tiger, leopards etc; Eravikulam National Park is a perfect place for the nature, bird and wildlife enthusiasts. Apart from the mentioned species, this park has about 17 species of mammals, 19 species of amphibians and 132 species of birds. Also, a new breed of frog has been found in the park. This frog has extremely short limbs and multiple glands.
The highest peak of the South of Himalyas, Anamudi (2695 m) lies in the park’s Core Area. The Park, as a whole, covers an area of 97 km sq, and has been divided into three parts; Tourist area, Core area and buffer area. The tourists are allowed only until Tourist Area.
Mini-Buses are arranged for the tourists that takes them for a thirty minute ride. It stops in a photo gallery; this area is not isolated and provides for all basic requirements. From this point, visitors have to trek 1.5 Km and then return to board the bus again. Charge for the bus is INR 75.
The tickets for the park are sold between 8:30 am- 4:30 Pm. You may get a long queue for the tickets, so it is advised that you reach this park before the 8:30 am. Amounts for the tickets are- Indians: INR 65 and Foreigners: INR 245.
