Palai Travel Guide


Located 32 km eastward of Kottayam, Pala or Palai is one of the most enchanting, verdant green places in the south Indian state of Kerala. A peaceful religious place, it is home to the largest proportion of Roman Catholics. It is situated on the banks of the river Meenachil and if the legends  are to be believed, it finds its roots from the mythological days. Palai is also known in the form of the main gateway to the southern high ranges.




How To Reach Palai


By Air

Palai is located near Kottaym, which has no airfield. But the nearest airport is located in Cochin and then in Thiruvananthapuram, which are around 90 km and 160 km away respectively (from Kottayam). Both these airports are well- connected with all the main cities of Kerala and India.

By Train

The nearest railway station to Palai is in Kottayam, which is just  2 km away from the bus station from the Kottayam bus station. The Kotatyam railway station is placed on busy rail route between Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram. To reach Pala, you can hire a taxi or board a bus.

By Road

The nearest town to Palai is Kottaya, which is accessible by Kerala Road Transport Corporations state buses.
