Palakkad Fort or Tipu Sultan’s fort, situated on a small hillock is spread in around 15 acres of a ground, known as Kotta maidan. Erected in 1766 by Hyder Ali of Mysore and later by his son Tipu Sultan, it is one of the most stunning forts in Kerala. This square-shaped structure has several courageous tales to tell. There is a temple at its entrance, Kota Ambalam, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. There is an open air auditorium, Martyr’s Column and a jail inside the fort.
