Summer season is the best time to visit the sanctuary as the weather remains pleasant which is ideal for visiting the sanctuary. It is also a good time to enjoy boating at Periyar Lake. It is best to avoid the monsoon season for a visit to the place. There is a possibility to see animals near the lake during the moths of March and April.
