Attractions in Vagamon


Kurisumala Ashram

Kurisumala Ashram is a Christian pilgrim center for Christian ascetics. It is most popular among the devotees for the celebration of Goof Friday. During this holy week, devotees can be seen climbing the hill carrying a wooden cross. It is the perfect place to visit for the people  who would love to rest and relax in the peaceful and tranquil environment .

Dairy Farm

The Indo-Swiss Project Dairy Farm is another major attraction to be visited in Vagamon. This farm is located on the hill top of Kurisumala. The dairy farm is managed by the monks of Kurisumala.

Kurisumala Hill

Kurisumala Hill, located at a distance of 10 km from Vagamon, is a beautiful place to visit. The path to the hill has 14 crosses fixed, leading  to the church located on the hilltop. While traversing the winding path, enjoy the sight of splendid surroundings . A large number of devotees climb up the hill carrying wooden crosses during the holy week of Good Friday.

Mundakayam Ghat

Mundakayam Ghat, located at a distance of 8 km from Vagamon, is famed among the tourist for breathtaking sunset views. While being on the Mundakayam Ghat, enjoy an aerial view of the serene surroundings. This magnificent region is famed for the Paragliding festival that is organized by the ASSTA.

Murugan Para

Muragan Para is a rock-cut temple located on the  Murugan hill, which lies at a distance of 8 km from Vagamon. The magnificent rock carved structure temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga, the son of Lord Shiva.

Thangal Para

At Thangal Para,the Mausoleum of Sheik Fariduddin is located and is famed among the tourists as the renowned pilgrim center for Muslims. The Thangal Para hill is located at a distance of 5 km from Vagamon. If the legends are to be believed, the Afghan Sufi saint lived here for 800 years and the small stone that he used to grind, after his death, transformed into the spherical rock that lies precariously with the wall of the Dargah.

Vagamon Falls

Vagamon Falls is a small stream which originates from the lake. The stream gushing along the ravine serves as a rugged trekking route. This alluring waterfall is visited by a large number of tourists around, throughout the year. The grassy hillocks surrounding the waterfall stretch up to the forests on one side and ends at the cliff on the other side.

Vagamon Lake

Visit Vagamon Lake, another major tourist attraction, which features the verdant green hills and the scenic views surrounding it. The lake is perfect for enjoying a boat ride. The colorful flowers and manicured lawns around the lake are a perfect retreat to the eyes.

Wild Orchid

The area is a stretch of rolling hills with green meadows. The Wild Orchid is unique cottage resort built in the rugged village style. The resort was built using eco-friendly material. The 50 cottages, located on one side of the beautiful lake, are furnished with all the modern day facilities. The complex also houses a large number of restaurants  and theatres etc.

Teekoy

Teekoy is a small hamlet located on the banks of the Meenachil River and is frequently visited by a large number of nature lovers to explore its vivid landscapes that provide for rich variety of flora and fauna. The winding trail present here is among some of the most preferred trekking paths.  Marmala waterfall is a must visit attraction in Teekoy. Enjoy the sight of water being spilled all around while gradually cascading through the rocky cliffs and narrow valleys. Explore the place, as it is famous for housing a large number of medicinal herbs. Neelakoduveli plant, exclusively found in the surroundings of Teekoy village, is well known for its revitalizing properties.  

Vagamon Hill station

Vagamon is a beautiful hill station, located in the Idukki district of Kerala. This majestic hill station is famed for its beautiful waterfalls, towering pine tree forests, tea planation estates along with the lush green meadows. A visit to this hill station makes one feel relaxed and close in the natural sourroundings.

Vagamon Pilgrimage

Vagamon is a known pilgrimage center amongst the various tourists for it being surrounded by a string of hills namely Thangal, Kurisumala and Murugan hills. All the three hills are of prominent importance for the people of different faiths.
