Located in Kasargod District, Valiyaparamba backwaters has become one of the fastest growing backwater destinations in Kerala.  Earlier too it was a popular stop for tourists on their way to Bekal. However, now it is become quite popular as a perfect option for a day’s retreat for exploring the place while cruising. A backwater cruise in the houseboat along the Valiyaparamba backwaters in the northern-most Kasargode district is one of the most sought-after journeys. This backwater journey is quite an enchanting one. Valiyaparamba Island is popular for fishing and handloom and coir industries.




How To Reach Valiyaparamba


By Air

The nearest airport to Valiyaparamba Backwaters is the Mangalore or Mangaluru airport, which is located at a distance of around 103 km. Another nearby airport from Valiyaparamba is Karipur International Airport in Kozhikode which is about 150 km.

By Train

The nearest railway stations to Valiaparamba backwaters are at Payyanur and Cheruvathur. Payyannur, located in Kannur district is just a walk to Kotti Boat Jetty, right behind the railway station. Thereafter, get aboard a boat to arrive at Valiyaparamba.

By Road

Tourists from Kasaragod should get down at Kalikadavu and then from there, they can hire an auto to go to Ayitty boat jetty. From the jetty, you take a boat. If you are coming from Kannur side, you get down at Payyannur. From here you can take an auto that is available at the bus stand to reach kotti jetty. The nearest towns are Kasargod and Kanhagad. Reaching Valiyaparamba Backwaters is quite easy because of regular bus services managed by KSRTC buses.
