One of the best attractions in Alleppey, the Revi Karuna Karan Memorial Museum is memorial museum, which is founded by his family in the memory of Mr. Revi Karuna Karan, an extraordinary man. This man dedicated his life for the growth and development of the coir industry. Along with his love for coir, he was also quite passionate about rare and old works of art and have collected a number of such wonderful classics. In the museum, his remarkable collection can be seen.
Apart from beaches and backwaters, this museum also allures a huge number of tourists to the wonderful Alleppey town from all across. An array of crystal wares is also on display at the Revi Karuna Karan Memorial Museum with the world popular pieces of Swarovski being the highlight. Another selling point is the wonderful ivory and crystal collections, one of its kind in India.
Visitors can also see a great collection of paintings including the celebrated Tanjore art works. The spotlight here is on a 200 square feet high mural, which is absolutely stunning. Depiction of the cultural and social heritage of the country, this painting is done in vegetable dyes. The painting was completed in 4160 hours.
Revi Karuna Karan Memorial Museum, Alleppey also has a section for architectural wonders, the Kerala room with 3800 pieces on display. Marvel at some amazing artistic objects like antique furniture and porcelain artefacts. Buick Super, a 1946 model, owned by Mr Revi’s father is not to be missed.
The total exhibition area here is of 10,000 square feet. Admire some superb displays with heritage and artistic value, brought here from all across the globe. The museum was inaugurated on the 22nd November 2006 by Sri. M.M. Jacob, former Meghalaya governor. The museum itself is an architectural masterpiece, covering an area of 28,000 square feet, which was completed in three years.
